Are you comfortable with all of your beginner crochet stitches and ready to take them up a notch? This month’s crochet pattern is exactly what you need! This one lokos tricky, but once you get the foundation rows in place it is all pretty easy from there, and even better is that it only uses your basic stitches, include chains!

I absolutely love the finished look of this one on both the back and the front! The stitches you need to know are (in US terms) single crochet, chain, slip stitch and double crochet. This makes it perfect for a dabbler that wants a bit more of a challenge. The only tricky bit is that you need to work some of the stitches into the row below. But once you get the initial foundations in, it is much easier to see where to place them without too much thinking.
Which is why it is also quite calming to make! And it isn’t much of a yarn eater too as I could probably get two of these out of the one ball of yarn that I used. I’m also looking forward to turning this one into a blanket at some point. I actually have thoughts of turning many of my washcloths into blankets now too! I just need more time in the week to get to them.
What else could you turn this into? I’m thinking a cushion cover. It could also create some pretty detail in a top or jumper, or even some detail on a bag. Once you play around with it and see the finish piece I suspect the ideas will spark for you too.
I’ve called this one Green Leaves. Mostly because I asked my audience to name it and this one was the first name to come through on my instagram stories and was also mentioned on my reel too. There were too many lovely names to choose from, so I went with the first!
