Crochet Christmas Stocking from Granny Squares

Are you looking for some fun new Christmas decoration ideas? Consider this Christmas Stocking made from granny squares. it’s cute, it’s fun and it’s totally functional too!

I’ve kept it to traditional christmas colours and made a basic traditional granny square in two rounds for the red and green and one round for the white. I joined as I went. You’ll need to make two of them to join together – just make sure that the second one is a mirror image of the first. If you don’t then one will end up with right side facing in.

I used 10 squares total for the each side in red and green (20 squares all together) and 4 mini squares in for each side in the white (8 total). Once each piece was made I joined them with 2 rounds of single crochet – keeping the red separate from the whote. I finished it off with two rounds of white around the top and adding a mini pompom. There is a loop on the top too so that it can be hung.

I’ve used Scheepes Chalista, which is a worsted weight / 10ply cotton.

So what do you think? How would you change it?

I’ll be going over how I made it and some recommended changes with my members inside the Hooked on Crochet Club. You’re welcome to come and join too!
