I guess you’re here because you’re wondering where you can get help with crochet. Almost everyone will flock to the internet for help now days. I honestly didn’t even think of it when I decided to learn. And I quite often see people asking for help inside of facebook groups, so even though we have resources at our fingertips, it isn’t always useful. I did learn online by purchasing a course and it was the best decision I ever made.

Did you know that I have a YouTube channel? I’ve had one for years and posted some really very low production videos on there. And then I left it unattended for years too. Over the last few months though I have started going back to posting. Now I’ll be honest too, YouTube is not my favourite resource for sending people to to learn crochet. I find it just becomes way too overwhelming unless you know exactly what you’re looking for. To help with that I did post a beginners playlist years ago that is helpful. Poor production, but it does give everyone the right introduction to crochet. But even when you do know what to look for you’re then stuck finding the right video. And it won’t help if you need other ways to learn besides video.
I would much rather send people to my Square a Day Challenge if they want real help with crochet. And the next level up will be my Hooked on Crochet Club. The Square a Day Challenge gives you access to my complete beginners course plus squares to make so that you can put everything together. It’s perfect for getting the basic skills sorted and it also helps you learn to read patterns. Plus it caters for all of the learning styles. The Hooked on Crochet Club then helps you to improve on all those skills and continue to get better and better at crochet.
I’m now posting different content on youTube. If you’ve seen my crochet bundles, then you’ll be happy to know that I am posting a video each week for one of the washcloths in the bundle. And each bundle will have it’s own playlist. Having the videos to go with the patterns makes it easier to learn to read patterns – another skill that is needed for many crocheters. Other content I’m posting are yarn reviews and granny square project ideas and I post one of each per month.
Another resource you can try is your local library. They are bound to have some books to learn from and might even have a crochet group that attends. Facebook goups could be helpful, but I wouldn’t encourage learning from facebook groups unless they’re run by a crochet teacher or crochet mentor. They can be a handy way to reach out to get help from a real person though – as long as they contain people that can actually help you!
So to summarise these are my suggestions for where to get help.
- If you’re just starting out, find a beginners course either online or in person. If you want online then definitely check out my Square a Day Challenge.
- If you’re already a crocheter and just need help improving or need access to someone that can answer specific questions, then the Hooked on Crochet Club is designed exactly for that.
- If you just need to find a specific stitch or guidance when YouTube or some facebook groups are ok for that.
I hope that helps you find somewhere that is right for you!
