How to Crochet a Hat Band from Granny Squares

I don’t know why I didn’t come up with this idea sooner! This month I’m sharing a band that I created for my summer hat. It’s now gone from ordinary to extraordinary. And the bonus is that I can create more in different styles and change the one hat into lots of different hats!

How fun is it? I’ve used a square from the Hooked on Crochet Club library and a 4ply cotton yarn. There are unlimited ways that you can create this. You can use different colours or keep it plain like mine. I’ve sewn my squares together and then added a border on both edges. Each square has three rounds so it was quite quick to make up. I’d be tempted to make one with a square with a flower and more colours.

You could join as you go or sew the squares together like I did, or join them with a top join. The options truly are endless.

What ideas has this sparked for you?

This could be a great gift idea if you know someone that needs to wear a hat all summer..
