I love washcloths as a learning tool for crochet. They help you to practice new stitches and designs without all of the overwhelm. This month’s washcloth is great for those that want to practice a new stitch – Front Two Loops Only Half Double Crochet (Front Two Loops Only Half Treble in UK terms).

This stitch is a variation on the basic stitch – Half Double Crochet (Half Treble in UK terms) – which is one of my favourite basic stitches. The only different is where you insert your hook. Once you get the hang of it it works up quite easily.

If you want to use the same yarn as I did, I used KnitPicks Dishie. This yarn is designed for making washcloths. If you want to use a different yarn then I recommend using 100% cotton as it has better absorption and is compostible when it’s at the end of its life.
