If you can make a granny square then you can make this wall hanging. It is one of my simplest yet! And the perfect follow-on from last week’s blog post on simple gifts that don’t need perfection.

I felt really lazy coming up with this granny square idea. I had something much more elaborate planned, but making granny squares was interupted by a lot of life this past month. So I decided to grab a square that I already had and make a wall hanging.

Now I did play around with deciding on whether to add a bead with the tassel or not, but I decided that none looked quite right. So I just went with making a tassel, and sewing it onto some dowel. The dowl my husband kindly shortened for me as i had some that were too short and some that were too long. So I aded the longer piece and then he trimmed it back for me.
I was actually quite surpised with how much I love this! Once I have completed my Hook and Learn lesson for members I intend to hang this on my whiteboard at work as a reminder that my crochet waits for me at home…
I would honestly consider making more of these as a simple gift for someone. It wouldn’t take much to get creative with colours. It would be an easy option for those of you that love to host market stalls too.
If you want access to this ‘square” and dozens of others as well as guidance on how to make them, then i encourage you to join my Granny Square Club. It is the basic level to my Hooked on Crochet Club and is perfect for those that love granny squares and just love to have something small to make and get creative with every month.
