A New Year and Decade Begins!

Can you believe that we’re now in a new year and a new decade?!  I am not so sure where the last of either has gone.

In the past 10 years I have seen my children all leave school and become adults (the last one turns 18 in 10 days time!).  I was a foster parent for 6 years, and foster mum to 2 boys for 5 1/2 years of that time.  I maintained the same job but the company changed around me twice.  I could be wrong, but I believe we moved into our current house in August of the first year of the new decade – all that is a blurr now!  Our daughter competed in two world championships for taekwondo and her and her brothers competed and medalled in several other international taekwondo events too. And, can you believe – I learned to crochet and started my crochet business!

The last year alone saw lots of change for my family too.   My husband was made redundant from his job of 15 years. We lost 2 of our cats to old age (both almost 17 years!), as well as a pet rabbit and a few chickens.  Our foster boys left our care and we made the decision to no longer foster any children due to stress.

I suspect that I am missing out some significant events, but the whole time feels like it happened an eternity ago!

And one of the biggest things happened with my business in the last year too!  I opened the clubhouse!  The Hooked on Crochet Club doors officially opened in July to foundation members and were open again in September and a sneaky doors open in November.  I have had so much fun in the clubhouse, and believe that the members have too!  Most of them have stayed, so they must be enjoying it a little!  I plan on opening the doors again in late January / early February.  If you’re wanting learn more or to make sure that you don’t miss out, then be sure to add your name to the waitlist.  The clubhouse is a great place to improve on your crochet skills and develop a daily crochet habit with fun projects every month.

I also ran a beginners course for the first time last year!   It was a trial run in my facebook group the crochet learning corner.  I’ll be running it again in January, but this time it will be a paid course and I am setting it all up on my website so that you can access the material directly from there and there will be additional hook and learn sessions in the crochet learning corner.  There will be a few more lessons, and because they’re pre-recorded they are broken down into smaller videos so they’re easier to go back to.  If you’re eager to get started with learnin, you can download my free beginners guide and I’ll email you when the course is available to purchase.  I intend to run it a few times each year and look forward to helping many more of you learn to crochet!

My first project of the year started yesterday too!  I decided to start a temperature blanket.  I’ve got a free download with an overview of how I am making mine if you want to start yours too!  It’s not too late as you can get the past temperatures from the internet or you can start on any date you choose!

I’ll be making my square in the afternoon/evenings live on instagram as part of my square a day habit (which I now do twice a day!) and to encourage #crochetforcalm.  Be sure to follow me if you want to make a square with me or to just watch it live.

I also have my washcloth series continuing this year.  You can get the first one from this blog post and they are being sent out to my email list, which you can also add your name to.  I have a stitch tutorial coming out every month too!  Both the wash cloth series and stitch tutorials come out every month on my blog and email.

I have big plans for crochet in the next few years!  I hope that you will want to share the journey with me too.  You can do so by following me on facebook or instagram at Honouring M.E. crochet and the Hooked on Crochet Club at any of the links below.  I like to share other tips and tricks and progress on my projects every day through there.

Honouring M.E. Crochet on Facebook and Instragram.

Hooked on Crochet Club on Facebook and Instagram.

I’m excited to see what the new year and decade hold for us, and I hope you are too!

Seona xx
