So what do you think you can make with 8 granny squares? This month’s granny square inspiration needs just that!
The size, the look and the feel is of course going to come down to your squares, your yarn and how you decide to join them, but below is an idea for you based on 8 squares I made.
A very simple granny square cowl.

I used a chunky yarn to make this one and a square from the Hooked on Crochet Club. After making 8 of them I joined them as 2 rows of 4 and then joined them to form a ring. After that I added border to the top and bottom and called it done!
You can use any square or yarn for this one. If your square is smaller you might need to join them in a single row or a more open join, or alternatively make a couple of extra squares. It should be a snug fit to go over your head, but if it’s looser that is ok too.
I’ll be sharing an up close look at this oen with my Hooked on Crochet Club members and explaining in more detail how I made it. If you’re not a member, feel free to add your name to the waitlist for when the doors open next!
