Front post stitches are a sonderful stitch for creating texture. They’re relatively simple once you figure out how and where to place your hook. And they’re used in cable stitches on crochet fabrics. This month’s washcloth introduces you to front post trebles – or front post double trebles in UK terms.

In this washcloth that I have called Ladders, the front post trebles are worked in the row below (like they are in cable stitches), directly below and not across to the left or the right. This is perfect for getting comfortable making the stitch before embarking on cable stitches.
If you’re ready to give it a go, then you can find the pattern in the locations below.

Did you pick that this one is pictured upside-down? If not, then take another look!
If you’re wanting some patterns for other front post stitches then you’ll want to see some of my other washcloths. Honeycomb is one of my favourites and uses the front post double crochet, as does Waffle and then thers is Diamonds Forever which uses front post treble.
If this year is your year for making more time for you, then you really need to join my world. The easiest way to do that is to add your name to my email list. I’m a big promoter of putting yourself first after learning the hard way just how important it is. And crochet is one of the biggest ways that I give myself self-care so I will encourage you to do the same and can keep you accountable if you need that! Once you gain more Crochet Confidence you start to feel the benefits beyond this being a fix for your creative side. Crochet is extremely calming once you get confident and learn which styles and techniques you enjoy the most.
