How to Make a Wall Hanging from Granny Squares

If you caught last week’s post then you know that wall hangings are one of my top 3 simple projects to make with granny squares. This week I am sharing my newest wall hanging creation made using three granny squares. Let me know what you think!

I had fun making this one. I had intended the squares on being something else when I started making them, but changed my mind and made this!

To make this one I have raided my craft stash for some dowl and wooden beads and the yarn. The yarn is a mercerised 4 ply cotton which gives is a bit of a shiny look. I was feeling creative and had the time to play around with different colours – something that is not in my usual style when it comes to granny squares. I have mixed and matched the different colours and made the same square for each one. I would also love to see this with different squares but in a single colour.

The beads I have joined as a layering piece between each square too. I recently bought a tassel making set recently too, so couldn’t help but add some tassels to the end. The square is from the Hooked on Crochet Club library and I added an extra round to make it slightly bigger – mostly because my original plan was to make a mini bag. I’ll make the bag eventually, but three of these multi-coloured squares was the limit for me I’m afraid.

What does this inspire you to make?
