How to Crochet a Pouch

Pouches are super handy things to have around. They are not only cute, but they are the perfect choice for storing cables, chargers and earbuds when travelling. I also use them to carry my earrings if I’m going on holiday. You can also use them to store tissues, masks, sanitary products, makeup and all kinds of little bits and bobs.

This month I am sharing one that I made using a grannie square and a fabric that I crocheted to attach it to.

I have made this one with cotton yarns that I have lying in my stash. The square was one I had made for the Hooked on Crochet Club and not put to use. I had scraps of yarns from other squares and made a simple fabric from single crochet. I kept making rows until it was a bit longer than the square when I folded the fabric in half. Once folded, I then crocheted the sides and attached the square. You can’t see it, but I have attached a press stud to the back of the square and to the fabric so that it can stay closed.

You can change this up easily by using a different square and different colours. If you don’t have a press stud you can create a button hole and add a button. You can make the fabric longer too and use it as a glasses case instead. This is a super simple and super versatile little idea!

I’ll explain in a detail how I made it to the members of my Hooked on Crochet Club next week in our live Hook and Learn lesson. You’re welcome to come join us if you like! I’ll also be hosting my masterclass this weekend if you’re wanting to get better at crocheting and be able to get more creative and confident with your crochet. There are limited seats, so if you do want in, you need to be quick and be one of the first 50 to show up so that you can catch it live! Make this year your year for getting better at crocheting!
