It’s here! And starting on July 01st. My first ever crochet along called the JOYCAL 2025. And yes, you can guess by the number that I plan on putting out a new one every year.

The JOYCAL is going to be different to any crochet along you’ve ever experienced. This one is going to be a journey into finding your joy with crochet so that you can create a project that brings you JOY!

So how is it different to other crochet alongs?

Firstly, it is going to be a ‘choose your own adventure’ style project. You can definitely make it exactly the way I made it, but I would encourage you instead to play along and create something that is entirely unique to you. That means exploring each part and discovering what stitches, what colours, what techniques bring you the most joy when you’re creating. You can then use that knowledge to create your own project.

The JOYCAL is going to be made up from 6 different squares, 5 of each. Each square is picked from one of my washcloth patterns, so if you have the patterns you can play along with those. I have made the original one for 2025 using a custom made Bobbel Box from Bellemae Yarns. The second version I have made from Fiddlesticks Wren. Both yarns bring me joy for different reasons.

There will be 8 parts released – 6 squares plus the join and the border. When you purchase the JOYCAL you’ll get access to a private hub and we’ll release the parts one day at a time over 8 days. You’ll get all the videos (left and right handed) as well as tutorials for any stitches needed. A free version will also be available from July 01st. This will be the pdf patterns only and each part will be released every two weeks so that you have time to make all of one part before moving on to the next. All you need to do to get the free version is to subscribe to this blog and sign up for my emails so that each part can be released to you as it comes out.
