Benefits of Crochet

I know I am not alone here when I say that crochet is more than just a hobby.

And it’s more than a business for me too.

Crochet is my happy place.  It is my bringer of joy.  It is what keeps me sane when the stresses of life try to take control.

I need to crochet daily.  It’s a physical need.  Call it an addiction if you like, but it’s a healthy one!  I cannot go to bed at night if I have not had my hook in my hand.  Even if it’s to work a single row or a few stitches of a current project for 5 minutes.

I never expected to get so many benefits out of a craft!

I know I mentioned it with my squares post recently, the meditative benefits I get from creating a square every morning, but the same can be said for all crochet.

The patterns I prefer to create are all ones that can be done relatively mindlessly, especially the bigger projects.  Very little counting and a repetitive rhythm all lead to calm.  It enables my hook to just “do its thing” while a new project is made, and each colour change and each new row adds to the joy of something new appearing!

And it is this calm and this joy that I am determined to bring to as many people as possible!

We all deserve some downtime in our life.  No matter what stage of life we’re at, there is always a benefit to committing to crochet.  I never expected to find it, but I did, and I know that you can too.

After all, there is a reason that crochet is a craft that has been around forever!

By committing to crochet, you’re also committing to yourself!  And I am a big believer of that too.  Just like they say on the aeroplane safety messaging, you must always put your oxygen mask on before you turn to help others.

Crochet is my way to help others.  And that is why I have a comprehensive beginners guide for anyone that wants to learnt o crochet, or wants to revive an old skill.

Head here and you can download the pdf for free and start learning today!
