How to Make an Infinity Scarf with Granny Squares

Infinity scarves can be quite versatile and useful to have in your wardrobe. I like that they’re not going to fall off once you put them on. And that they can be turned into multiple different looks depending on the size that they are. This one works as a scarf, cowl and shrug depending on your outfit needs.

This one I have made with 18 granny squares. The squares are all of the same design but made in one of three different colours. The yarn is Scheepjes Metropolis, which is a lovely merino/nylin yarn. Each square is roughly 11cm across.

I decided to join them in rows of two in the darker colour using single crochet to make a big circle. You can see how in this past blog. I’ve then edged the long edges with the dark yarn in single crochet and then one round each of the lighter colours using moss stitch which is one of my favourite edgings. I was tempted to add a fringe to the one edge, but the time needed out-weighed by desire to have it

You can make this with any granny square and any yarn that you have. I’ve used a 3mm hook so it’s a finer weight yarn, but you can easily use a thicker yarn and less squares if you want to make it quicker. You can also add more squares to make it wider and/or longer. The only limit is your imagination and the yarn you have available!
