This top will have to be one of my favourite ones to date. The colours, the design, everything! it makes me so happy to wear it too.

So how have I made it?
This one is from 40 granny squares made from a worsted/aran/10ply cotton. I’ve joined the squares using an invisible join and then joined the two pieces together with slip stitch, leaving room for my head and arms. I’ve then made a round of single crochet, then one of double crochet and then rounds of alternating front and back post double crochet for the neck, arms and bottom band.
The square that I’ve used is one from the Hooked on Crochet Club library – the ‘Nothing to See Here Granny’ which is a square with no gaps. The top design can be made with any square that you have access to though. And you can use more or fewer squares to adjust the design.
I had intended on making all sorts of things when I first started making these squares, but this top became the final design. Another reason why I love working with granny squares – there is so much flexibility in what they can become!

i do love it Seona – reminds me of a long-sleeved pullover/jersey I made in my 30’s for me which was knitted with different squares in natural colours but using different textures & yarns all about double knit etc. it’s beautiful.
