Washcloth Series – 09 Waffle

We’re up to number 9 in the series! Waffle stitch has been on my to do list for ages and this was a relatively simple version of the stitch.

Waffle stitch is made using the front post double crochet. If this stitch is new to you, then be sure to check out my tutorial for it.

As with all my washcloths I have used KnitPicks Dishie. You can use any yarn, but I do recommend that you choose a 100% cotton.

I used a 5mm hook. If you want to amend the size then make a foundation chain in any uneven number. The chain 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.

The abbreviations I have used:

ROWINSTRUCTION
BeginCh41
Row 11dc into the 4th chain from the hook and each chain to the end. Ch2 and turn
Row 21dc into the 1st stitch 1fpdc around the next dc, 1dc into the next stitchRepeat the steps in bold until 1 stitch remaining.  Work 1dc into the last stitch.Ch2 and turn
Row 3 – 26Repeat row 2 omitting the last ch2.
Border Rnd 1Ch1 and start working down the side Side 1 – work evenly down the side, aim for 2sc around each dc post or ch2 Corner – 2sc into the corner Side 2 – 1sc into each stitch then repeat the corner stitch. Repeat the steps in bold for the remaining sides and corners. Ss to the top of the 1st sc.
Rnd 2Ch1 and work 1sc into each stitch down the sides, and 3sc into each corner.   Ss to the top of the 1st sc.

If you want to purchase the full pattern you can do so at any of these locations:
