Granny Square Basket

Who has chickens?

We do! We have 10 of them, though one is looking very much like a teenage rooster that we’re trying to deny as true right now. But having chickens means we have eggs to collect, and it’s always easier to do that with a basket! But even if you don’t have chickens, this basket will be perfect for storing all sorts of bathroom items or even can be used as a yarn bowl.

I used tshirt yarn to make this basket and an 8mm hook. The square I chose was a simple solid granny from the clubhouse and I made 3 rounds instead of 5. I made 5 squares, used one as the base and 4 as the sides. Once joined I added some handles. If using tshirt yarn to create a square I suggest keeping it simple with your basic stitches.

Next week in the Hooked on Crochet Club I’ll be showing my members exactly how I made it in our weekly Hook and Learn Lesson.

What style basket could you make from 5 granny squares?
